My Story

McLeaninTanzania.jpg

My desire to help bring water to the children of Africa began after I spent a month in Africa, first climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and exploring Tanzania, then venturing through Zimbabwe and South Africa. During my travels, I came across the warmest, kindest people I've met. But what alarmed me was that many of the people I grew to know came from villages and even cities where children still have no access to clean water.  I witnessed school children outside of Arusha, Tanzania participating in "water day" where they take a day off of studies to form assembly lines to and from the local river, filling buckets and carrying them back up to their school. In other times, I witnessed porters carrying buckets of water miles up mountainsides from distant rivers. Not only do these citizens have to work hard to get the water, once they have it, it often isn't clean. So when I got home, I made a mission to be able to help as many people in this beautiful area have access to clean water.

That's where my partnership with LifeSong for Orphans began. Within LifeSong, I found a group of dedicated people who give 100% of donations raised to needy children. I made it a goal to visit LifeSong headquarters to learn more. After meeting with Gary Ringger, the founder and president, I was able to link up with their partner company, Gobena, which donates 100% of their profits to charity as well. Expressing my desire to help bring clean water to children, LifeSong has earmarked all money raised through the sales of coffee on my site to go towards bringing clean water to children in need.

Inspired by my travels, I published a photobook of my favorite images available on for purchase Amazon or digitally on Blurb.com
